DAY 1

ARRIVAL

Departure from the chosen airport, arrival to Rome and private transfer to the hotel.
Accommodation in a 4 * central hotel.
Afternoon at leisure for individual visits, overnight stay.

Optional: Typical dinner in a characteristic restaurant in Trastevere district.

DAY 2

ROME

Breakfast at the hotel and meeting with the guide for a morning dedicated to visiting Colosseum, the Imperial Forums and Mount Palatine (skip-the-line tickets included).
We will begin our tour from the Flavian Amphitheater, better know as the Colosseum, it is one of the most visited monuments ever, an icon of the Capitoline city. We continue to the Imperial Forums, a series of monuments and archeological remains that were once the stage of political life. We will end the morning with the visit of the Capital Hill (Campidoglio), with its square.

Free time for lunch and individual visit. Overnight stay.

DAY 3

ROME

Breakfast at the hotel, meeting with the guide.

You will visit the four most important basilicas of Rome.
We will tell you the history, traditions and special privileges they enjoy, admiring the precious masterpieces inside.
The first will be the Basilica of San Pietro built between 1506 and 1626, followed by a visit to San Giovanni in Laterano, ancient seat of the papacy, then San Paolo fuori le Mura and Santa Maria Maggiore which preserves inside the early Christian mosaics dating back to the fifth century.

Free time and overnight stay.

Optional: visit to the Borghese Gallery. 

The Museum’s art collection, begun by Cardinal Scipione Borghese, consists mainly of paintings, sculptures and antiquities, all of which are wonderfully placed and non-chronological.

DAY 4

RETURN / EXTENSION TO THE ROMAN CASTLES

Breakfast at the hotel, check-out and optional transfer to the station or airport from your hotel. / Breakfast, check-out and transfer to Frascati.

You will stroll through the streets of one of the most renowned municipalities of the Roman Castles, famous for the various Tuscolan villas, once home to illustrious patrician families.

In the late morning we will move to a local restaurant. With a visit the old farmhouse surrounded by nature, vineyards and olive groves. In this area vines have been cultivated since Roman times, it is possible to visit ancient caves where wine has been aged for millennia. We will talk about the techniques of working the vine and the winemaking processes. Time to taste the famous Frascati wine and lunch will be served, consisting of an appetizer and a first course of the Roman tradition. At the end of the visit, transfer to the 4* star hotel in the central city. Overnight stay.

DAY 5

DEPARTURE / 2 NIGHTS EXTENSION

We will move to Castel Gandolfo, a delightful town overlooking Lake Albano, one of the most beautiful villages in Italy, known for the presence of the Papal Palace, the pope’s summer residence.

Visit of the ancient city center with the Apostolic Palace, the Pontifical Villas and the beautiful gardens. A journey
that will tell us the history of the papacy from the seventeenth century to the Lateran Pacts, from the stay of John Paul II and Benedict XVI to the transformation into a museum by Pope Francis. This will be followed by a walk in the manicured gardens of the Parco delle Ville Pontificie with the remains of the ancient Roman villa.

At the end of the tour, continue to Nemi. Visit the ancient village of Nemi, the smallest town among the Roman Castles dating back to Roman times. Colorful, surrounded by nature and with a unique view of the lake of the same name, it offers noteworthy landscape views.

Afternoon at disposal for individual visit, overnight stay.
